About Giant Motors
Woven into the very fabric of America is a father's dream: to build a business he can pass on to his son, to create an empire - no matter how small - as a living monument to the family name.
Established businesses need continuity through the family. People know who you are in a service business and you become part of the family.
Dave May knew nothing of the body shop business when he took over operation of Giant Motors in 1957. In 1980, his son Richard joined him and they worked together until the time came for Richard to continue by himself.
Richard continues to make strides in the operation by purchasing state-of-the-art equipment. The skilled technicians have the extensive training and hard-earned expertise in modern repair technology to restore your vehicle to pre-crash condition.
Owner Richard May
After graduating from Miami Beach Senior High, Richard May spent four years at the University of Alabama. For three years after that he wrote automobile insurance estimates in Houston. But he always knew he would return home to take over the family business.
In addition to running the business, Richard is very involved in the community. He is a current member of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Founders of Mt. Sinai Medical Center and a past Board Member of the Young Presidents' Club. He is a past Miami Beach Kiwanis President. He and his wife, Marcelle (Worton), also a Miami Beach Senior High School graduate, have two daughters.
Richard's two greatest accomplishments are summitting Africa's Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is 19,000 ft. high, and representing the U.S. in the Maccabi golf games in Israel when he was in high school.
